The 610B listed on craigslist that was mentioned in the Items for Sale On Line by morzh made it safely to the shop today. My wife and I took a quick trip to Lancaster on a nice sunny day to pick this radio up. I'm really excited, it seems to be in very nice shape. I haven't done much with it yet except pull the chassis and vacuum out the dust bunnies. There were some seeds and mouse droppings but I don't see any rust so they didn't live there long.

It looks like there was a coating of some type on the dial that is now peeling and flaking off. Is that unusual? I haven't seen it on other phenolic dials but I haven't seen that many.
Has anyone seen this before?

The one electrolytic cap has an insulation sleeve on TOP as well as on the bottom. I don't see any reason for this. Its stuck on there pretty good so I'll wait until I stuff the cap to try to get it off and see if there is a cut or something under it. The radio was serviced at some point in the past and new electrolytics were tacked in under the chassis. Perhaps the service guy just had an extra one and stuck it on the top. Only one of the original electrolytics was floating above chassis ground so its not from one of them...???
