Interesting.

In your photos, I do not see a separate 300 ohm resistor between the 36 RF amp cathode and ground (looks like a short cloth-covered wire with tubular terminals and regular wires on each end).

Resistor (10) is hidden under the large 5,000 ohm resistor (20) which is under your (7E - .05) tape tag, so I cannot see if it is 15K or 10K.

Regardless...I'm seeing enough wiring oddities that I would need to compare yours to another 89 of the same vintage...and I do not own one. I have an 89-121, the early AM-only version as well as a late 1936 89-123 with 77 tube. Nothing in between. Someone else with an 89 like yours is going to have to jump in here.
