1947 Crosley Radio/Phono
#1

I just finished a recap on this radio. The radio plays fine, but the Phono plays but has no volume. Dose this mean that the Phono cartridge or the needle is bad? It is an Astatic L-75-A. Dose anyone know if a replacement is available?
Thanks

You probably have an old crystal cartridge which has gone bad (they all do eventually).

Syl has posted detailed instructions for rebuilding these here on the Phorum:

Hello Ron
Thanks Ron. I looked at Syl's Post on rebuilding a cartridge. He did a nice detailed job. I think I'll give it a shot, I guess I have nothing to lose. I think my first step will be to print the post, that way I can read it over a few times.

Another source of vintage record players repairs questions :
<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.west-techservices.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.west-techservices.com/</a><!-- w -->
Ive referred several customers to them for needed hard to find parts & services. Icon_wink
