Philco 41-250 Cabinet Trim Color
#1

I'm restoring a Philco 41-250 and am trying to match the cabinet trim paint color applied to the upper and front cabinet edges. The same color is also used behind the escutcheon. It's a medium/dark brown that, to my eye, is slightly reddish. What paint brand and color is recommended for this? Also, if you know, would the recommended paint allow lacquer coats to be applied upon it?

Thanks,
Richard

Don't use paint - use Mohawk tinted lacquer. Perfect Brown (Ultra Classic) would probably be a good choice for the trim, with Medium Walnut (Tone Finish) for the majority of the cabinet.

Several coats of Mohawk's Tone Finish will act as a paint, hiding the woodgrain. On the body of the cabinet where you want the grain to show, only a few light coats are needed to get the right color without obscuring (or totally hiding) the grain of the wood.

Ron,

Thank you for the information. I have the toners you recommend and will definitely use this approach.

Richard
