Rogers 10-85 cabinet all done
#1

I like these Rogers radios, especially some of the cabinets.
I picked this one up last fall and during the winter I did the chassis,
and replaced the top veneer.
Now I finally got the cabinet done.

Dan,
It looks great! Probably better in person.

Do you have the signal strength indicator working? It is an interesting circuit.

I suppose I am like a lot of other guys on these forums. I have not have any training in radio repair , or electronics.
So I don't understand a whole lot of the in and outs of how everything works. So to answer your question,
I did not know that the radio had a signal strength indicator. Sorry about that.

I guess I just replace the caps, check the tubes, and resistors ,clean the pots, and align the radio.
When it works OK after that I basically leave it alone.
It is my hobby , and I do enjoy it , but I am learning more about radios every day, and I hope it keeps me young.
I did enjoy looking at your site very much
Thanks

There is a small light bulb in the dial scale that is tied to a grid on one of the IF tubes. As the signal changes, this bulb glows brighter. The reason that I asked is because it is hard to find a suitable bulb. I used one of the very small "grain of wheat" bulbs.  - - going from memory - - It is easy to miss this function altogether.

Now I unde5stand what you mean by a ''signal strength indicator''

I guess I just call it a tuning light,   On my Rogers 10-12 There are two of them, and on my Rogers 6R932 there is one in the very center if the cabinet.
I also have one in my DeForest Crosley 'Buckingham, and some of the tombstone models have them also.

It took me quite a while to find the right bulb, but once I did  I ordered 20 of them, because I am always running into Rogers radios.
The biggest thing about the bulbs,   [I found ] was the amps had to be just right
The bulbs that do the job are   #1448.

The tuning light indicator works good on this one, and I finally got it all back together.
