40-216 no stations under 900
#1

Recapped, retried aligning several times. Yet no stations below 900. Above 900 very strong. Other radios pick up. Using a signal gen with loop antenna, I can lock in on each of the lower stations correct frequency. So it's receiving. It was motor boating bad before the alignment, but afterwards that's gone.  Any thoughts?

Try replacing 94 and 95. Have had those drift in value on a few of the '40 & '41 models. Same symptom but not mt model. Of course a weak 6J8 or a bad ground @ the tuning cap rotor shaft.

I was down in the basement in my dad's

figure out what all those squiggly meant.

Now I think I've got!

Thanks. I replaced 95 and 94 is spot on even when the set is warmed up 153 ohms. 6j8 tests strong. Going to check the gang grounds and clean the rotor contacts. See if that works.

Sorry, I looked up the wrong diagram (40-217). The parts are two 370 mmf mica caps 62 & 62X.

The 40-216 doesn't have 62x and 62 is a paper cap which I replaced.
