philco 46-350 chassis buff
#1

after buying an old philco 46-350 for $35 i had it on a shelf for a while (fixing RCA 1R81) Icon_biggrin i had looked at the chassis and noticed a shiny part. So to make the chassis fit in i decided to buff the chassis. After thinking awile Icon_idea I decided for a cheap alternative... toothpaste. It sounds gross but let it sit on the chassis for about five minutes get a paper towel and wet it and rub the toothpaste off and look at the chassis shine Icon_exclaim Icon_exclaim Icon_exclaim I suggest if you have a lot of time on your hands to do it it took about 3 hours to strip the components off. then another 30 minutes to buff the chassis. but it is worth it they bring the whole radio back to its golden days!!! Hmmm...interesting.

I've used toothpaste to clean and polish bakelite knobs before...yes, it works...that reminds me, I have a 44B escutcheon that needs polishing. Guess I'd better get busy.

Just don't use the same toothbrush that you use in your mouth, folks.
