Unkown Transitone 1940
I just bought a Transitone like the 1940 "UNKOWN" in the Gallory, for $2.24.
I'd like to hear about some more Philco mistory sets , One I'd like to know more about is the Philco cathedral in the move "Driving Miss Dasiy" the sides where made of wicker ? What was it, did anyone else see it in the movie? |

Re: Unkown Transitone 1940
I've never seen the movie, but I was told an interesting story about this radio several years ago.
It seems someone found a dilapidated old Philco 60 with the top/sides in very poor shape. This person removed the old top/sides and replaced them with wicker, and then painted the entire thing white. Someone later bought this radio and took it to Hollywood to use as a prop; you saw it in Driving Miss Daisy. It never left the factory with wicker sides, nor was it painted white by the factory. -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |
