Philco 90a Detector Secondary Open; How Many Turns on it?
#1

I've got a 90a, single 47, with an open secondary on the detector coil. I wondered if someone could confirm the number of turns for rewinding the coil. I counted twice. I think it's around 90 turns. Is this correct. Any tips for making it a clean job as well.

Thanks,

Dave

My notes indicate 95 turns, clockwise (as viewed from the bottom of the coil where the solder lugs are located), 34 gauge enamel.

You can use 38 gauge and it will be OK.

Thanks Ron. I went ahead before I saw your post and wound it with 90 turns. I used 32 gauge wire I had used on a Model 65. It works and is receiving but just barely. I haven't tried aligning yet. Will the 90 turns rather than 95 effect performance. I'll redo it if so. Thanks for your help.

Dave
