Philco 37-620
#1

Last august at the AWA cnvention I bought this chairside 37-620. I have seen a few in the past but they were walnut. This one is black lacquer with japanese figures on it, the ones on both sides are not only painting but appliques, it is in a very good state of preservation. I wonder if anyone has an idea of how many were made and what was the motivation for this painting, promotion, exportation?

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.
Circa 1966
Now I think I've got!

I hate to burst your bubble, but that set never left the factory with that paint job. It was done either by a previous owner, or a previous owner had it painted and decorated by someone.
