philco 46-1209 help
#4

If nothing has been done to it, you need to at a mininum replace the electrolitic capacators.
Schematic here:
http://www.nostalgiaair.org/Resources/586/M0013586.htm

The 5Y3 is the rectifier and if the caps are shorted or bad they can cause the 5Y3 to destroy itself, and more importantly take out the power transformer.

Don't plug it in again until you have replaced the electrolitic caps. It looks like there are 3 in this set C49 a 20uf, and there are two others a 10uf and a 25uf. The caps can be replaced with 450v types at as close to the original value as you can get. Observe the + and - on the caps and make sure they are installed correctly.
