Phorum How-To #14: Attaching Files To Your Posts
I would prefer that you attach photos to your posts by using your own web space and linking the photos from there, or a third party photo host such as Flickr or Photobucket.

For a tutorial on using Photobucket, look here:

Oh, and did I mention that I would prefer that you not attach files to your posts?

Why not?

Fair question. You see, attached files add to the Phorum database, making it larger, and taking up more room - and more bandwidth. Too much bandwidth = poor Phorum performance. Period. End of story.

Okay, you simply cannot figure out this Photobucket thing and you must attach a file.

Alright. Here's how to do it:

As you are writing a Phorum post, you will notice a little box labeled New Attachment. Next to it is a button labeled Browse.

Click the Browse button, and you will be able to select a photo from your computer as shown below:

When you have found the image you want to attach, click the Open button. This makes the filename appear in the box next to the text New Attachment.

Don't forget to write something in the text box above, where you compose your post! If you only attach a file without writing any accompanying text and click the "Post Reply" button, the post will be rejected by the system!

Once you write a post, having selected a photo to attach, click the Post Reply button.

Your post will appear in the thread, with thumbnails of your attached image(s). Click on a thumbnail to see the full size version of your photo(s).
