Replacement output xformer for 41-300
#1

Hi all, first post here.
Glad to see there is a board for just Philco. I usually hang out at the antiqueradios forums.

I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with replacing the output transformer on a 41-300? I have a transformer in there now (it was that way when I bought it), but it doesn't have the tap on the output for the tone control. Someone on the antiqueradios forum suggested a voltage divider on the output using 47 and 470 ohm resistors, and connecting the tone wiper and bottom of the volume pot to this point. These connections are now tied to ground. I'm going to try this as it's easy to do.

Anyone tried using a Hammond 125E as an output transformer? Looks like I can get 11.2k as the primary (close to 10k for the 47 tubes), and 4 ohms on the secondary.

Here's how my set is wired now:

Thanks everyone
Glenn
