Zenith 5R312 voltages
#16

Hi:
Update on this Zenith radio.
Plan A
I hooked up a bucking transformer and it worked well....Price about $10.. Dropped voltage to 113V.
Howerever, because of the size of the transformer, it could not be mounted on the chassis.
Plan B
I installed a 25 Ohm 25W Vishay/Dale wirewound chassis mount type resistor. Price was about $4... It worked well, and dropped voltage to 115V...Filament voltage was spot on at 6.3V... The heat generated was not a problem, even afer 4 hours... very minor. Both ideas were good, and a great learning experience.
Thanks guys for all your input.Icon_clap

You can hook up the bucking transformer off board, you basically make a custom built extension cord with the bucking transformer between one side of the line and the outlet.
Regards
Arran
