1931 Philco 112
#1

Was this model ever offered with a black finish? The reason I ask is, there one up for silent auction at our local thrift shop. I gave it a really hard look, and if it was painted after-the-fact, someone did a very professional job. (No brushmarks, runs, drips, overpaint, or other flaws). Further confusing matters, the rosette knobs on it are black, not brown, and also show no evidence of having been painted.

Never seen one but then again, have not seen many. I have a late model low boy and they are nice sounding radios. I still prefer the styling of the 111. We need our resident experts to chime in on this one.

Rosette knobs were available in black. However, I have never heard of a black 112.

Some Philco models produced in 1934-35 had black rosette knobs. Model 34 comes to mind as one of these. But to my knowledge, I have never heard of a black 112 nor of any Philcos using black rosette knobs before 1934.
