Just picked one of these up on ebay for cheap. It will be my first AM/FM set. Is there anything I should be leary of as far as the restoration? I was told that it does not work.

Everything.

Tubes, caps, resistors, coils, bandswitch contacts/sections, sockets, transformers. The usual. And a correct alignment procedure is a must, especialy for the FM side.
