PICS Added ID A Philco Speaker Please
#1

I received this speaker with a radio (Emerson) that I bought off CL for parts.

I haven't been able to find it in my philco literature.
The large coil is printed 2562-W. This has an 11" basket. The paper cone was trashed. Both coils ohm out so I assume it might be ok.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Gene, there is an H-13 ink stamp on the back of the field pole. The H-13 was used in the 16, 18 and 118.

Thanks Steve!

I didn't even notice the ink stamp until you mentioned it......I must be getting blind in my old age. I guess then the good news is I have a 118 chassis which now has a speaker.

That H series speaker would go in the console versions of the 118, like a 118X, 118L, 118H, 118MX, the 118B would use a K series speaker, I have a Canadian 3118B and that's what it uses. It would be nice if you could fit an H series speaker in a 118B but I think it may be too large to fit, not only from side to side but to clear the shadowmeter assembly on top of the tuning cap.
Of course you could go the route of building a custom cabinet.

My 16B has the H-13 in it.. 1.11 ohm.

Gene, I've noticed that the HD cameras will clearly show these stamps when you can barely make them out with your eyes or my eyes anyhow.

The 16B, at least the sloped top tombstones have the H-13 speakers, I'm not sure about the 16B cathedrals, one posted on here recently used an 8'' K series speaker. The late version 116B also used a K series speaker, I think that the early version 116B used an H series though.

The plug might tell the final story.... Which set will it fit? Much later Philco's had the plug attached to the frame. When did they stop the plug on the cable?

My model 16B shouldered tombstone has an H-13.

My model 116b shouldered tombstone has.... a U-9 !!

Yes, I installed a 116X chassis/speaker in my tombstone! It's a 15W table monster.
