Emerson 517 Moderne
#1

Well I had got 3 free radios a while back, one went to Terry, one is still in the box, this Emerson got done! The lighted dial pic is does not do justice, the cabinet came out OK, used Meguiars Wax and it came up good. I took the cabinet from a junker as the original had a big hole in top.

It has been to the bench and it sounds quite nice, picks up my 250 Watt AM music station very well. So now I am wondering if I should give this to the guy who gave it to me, It was his Dad's.

Looks great!
Darn I thought you fixed the old cabinet!
Hear your going to be snow in pretty soon.
Got to get busy on that GE cabinet. I found
some small brads so I can nail the top back down.

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.
Circa 1966
Now I think I've got!

By the time I fixed the hole It would have cost me way more than the junk set, I needed a knob and I took the case. I still have a chassis that is not too bad though it has the small tubes instead of the Octal like the one we fixed.

Nice!

What's that big white console The Emerson was sitting on for the pictures?  Icon_wink

I don't hold with furniture that talks.

I would give it back, lots of memories of his dad. David
