The right solution!
Good job!

If you want to work, lie down and sleep, and everything will pass.

Oh, and the wiper of that rheostat had no contact with the terminal it works with.
Some Deoxit D5 seems to have solved that one.

I am taking it slow. Next I will install the transformers.
Then the other parts.

Hello Mike,
Looks great what a easy one to do !!

Tonight connected the transformers. And cleaned the top surface of the amp. To the degree possible. I do not want to immerse it in anything and there are, well, nooks. And crannies. Especially crannies. Where even a Qtip does not fit.
Slowly but surely.

mike,
I have used even a toothbrush to clean tite areas .

Rich,

I do too sometimes. I will try it (I even have the dedicated toothbrush). Though the space there make maneuvering toothbrush difficult.

PS.
- Our toothbrushes clean teeth in hard-to-reach places.
- Well...I do not have any teeth in hard-to-reach places.

Mike, sometimes an artists paintbrush works for hard to reach places. You can buy an assortment on Amazon or Walmart for not too much money. Sometimes you have to cut them down to make them a little stiffer. I have a box of disposable acid brushes I use a lot and sometimes cut them down a bit:

Yes, I read somewhere that it was Sam Walton who inspired Picasso after he purchased brushes from samwalton.com. Picasso couldn't get the brushes to work the way he wanted but people loved the paintings anyway. And the rest is history.

John

Let's just say, I take a Qtip, wet it in either MS or IPA and really rub against the embossed letters. And it does not come out, though the Qtip comes out dirty every time.
The dirt is really compacted.
I think a real stiff toothbrush might do. And even then...

I would use a metal toothpick but I do not want to scratch backelite.
Actually, speaking of toothpicks, I have sharp wood ones, those that I used on knurled handles (after soaking in Goop overnight). Maybe those. Why haven't I tried them yet...probably got too much taken away by the scrubbing process.

Do you mean that steel tube with bristles? I mean, acid brush (yeah, if I take acid, I will see that one in my disturbed brain sulci).
I think I have one. Yes, that one is fairly stiff.
Oh well, not today...today I am lazy. And, I am frustrated by my Jeep dealer trying to fix ny rear defogger...for the 5th time.
But the day will come...soon...tomorrow...maybe...definitely...if I could find that brush...

I even know what every Russian would use for the liquid to dip it in. Mother-in-law's spittle. Very acidic. At least, in Russia it is.

There even was a joke: (you know how they used snake venom in topisal remedies to treat back ache).

A guy comes to his mother in law and asks her to spit on his lower back.
She gladly obliges and then asks, what for?
He answers: my doctos recommended using a snake venom to treat my radiculopathy.
