How about the cap itself, have you lubricated the shaft? That sometimes is tight....
People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

I lubed everything. It must have grit inside but it really just feels like something is really off. VERY hard to turn the actual drum, tuning cap turns good.

I'm pretty sure that the tuning cap is brass and not pot metal/aluminum. That's a good thing! I picked up a Crosley Bandbox battery set at a radio auction only to find that all three tuning caps are badly deformed. Think I'm going try installing ones from a AK set I've got a few spares.
I don't really remember how it comes apart (SG-8) As it's been three or four yrs ago. I think that the drum rides on pot metal bracket and that is where the binding is occurring. I was able to lub and just keep moving back and forth. Got it to the place that it was useable but still a little stiff.

Hey Terry,
These look so promising for the Knight but the measurement are so off. I have to re-measure mine to see if I screwed up.

Some day, and that day may never come, I will call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day, accept this justice as a gift

The RCA and Radiola speakers are very different looking. You want the Radiola R-100.

There's info on this radio:

Also, to open up your speaker possibilities a bit, since this has a P-P output, you can use a P-P output transformer that works for 6K6's and then use any 4-32 ohm speaker you like.
