Well it lives to play another day. This chassis was hacked in the past. Parts replaced with the wrong value. The strangest thing was a lot of the wiring is bundled in a harness and I found 3 separate sections of wire about 4" long in the bundle that were cut on both ends. No sign of what or where they connected to, just 3 strips of wire nestled in there with nowhere to go! After the recap, I traced everything out and never did find what they were for but when I fired it up, she sang.
I replaced several dogbone resistors that were bad and that left me with 4 good originals. I ended up replacing them too as I figured what the heck, it's only 4 more. It will be going back to MA so I felt better replacing those 4 in the hopes of making the radio more reliable. Now to give it an alignment, although it performs well already! Many thanks to those that helped me identify this radio and put me onto the schematic.
