I would think that it's an 8mfd. An .8 would pretty small in physical size by comparison. 10mfd would be a suitable replacement as I don't know if the 8's are a common value anymore. Old school tubular 8mfd@450v would be abt 1" in dia and 2 to 3" long.
Here @ the Philco Phorum we are a non discriminatory radio phorum however we do have a special section for "other radios"
