Ok. Everything opens with a direct link. Yes. As Arran said, this is a transistor radio. It is a more expensive version of the simplified Accord Penguin U60, which I also reviewed. In my opinion, this is a significantly overpriced product, you need to look at Ebay.
I did a comparative test of the tube Penguin U59 and the transistor Penguin U60 and the tube version won by a huge margin in all parameters.
Sorry, there are no English subtitles here yet, but I will install them in an hour.

I bought my McIntosh amp on Kijiji. Went to cross the border to pick it up and pay.
(cross of our Rte 87 to your Rte 15 to Montreal, it was a park 1 mile from the border).
Got detained by border guards for an hour with partial car disassembly and full patdown, plus some strange soul-saving talk from the male borderguard about my attitude towards gun ownership plus whether I owned a gun or not, and why not.
They let me go, I got late, but the people leaved nearby and they waited.
(They took my phone so I could not even phone them).
This was the fall of 2016.
So, this was my one time Kijiji purchase.
People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

That's enough for me. I may not have completed that sale. Electronics nuts may appear very fishy to law enforcement. When I was in heavy astronomy mode a friend and I got a good going over when we emerged from a forest onto to the road with a large telescope and our gear around 4 am. Kept looking through our stuff. Who else would be out in a field til that hour, must be druggies or those big tubes could be bazookas. Never thought of my self as that much off an oddball. I see Kiiji stuff. I really try to avoid anything but in person purchases it also helps me cut down on bring stuff into the house. Paul B.

Hello everyone. I'm back in touch. After a long break, I continue the topic about radio receivers from my collection ...
One of the first radio models of the Swedish company Baltic radio, - Baltic K4. 1926.
Three-lamp regenerator on rare English DE3 radio lamps of the 1918 model... The peculiarity of this radio receiver is the absence of a range switch. The change of reception ranges of this radio was due to the replacement of 3 coils from 9 pieces in a set in three frequency ranges - 180-400 meters, 400-900 meters and 900- 2200 meters
Two years later, this company merged with the Swedish company AGA and thus the AGA Baltic corporation was formed, one of the leaders of the Swedish radio industry....

Hello everyone. After a short break, I continue to show exhibits from my collection...
Mega rare stationary radio receiver for long-distance reception from Great Britain, - the famous "tank" model Three Mains of the English company McMichael, a manufacturer of high-quality radio receivers, televisions and military equipment. Yes, it was McMichael who was the author of the concept of military direction finding and the first samples of radar stations created before the Second World War.
This receiver is a regenerator with a high-frequency amplifier, was distinguished by extremely high sensitivity and noise immunity and therefore was often used to receive radio stations in adverse conditions, for example as a broadcasting radio receiver in compartment cars of trans-European express trains. He was a pioneer among European radio in the use of the now familiar type of rectangular scale with backlight and an arrow indicating the frequency of stations. It also differed from its competitors in its heavy weight with small dimensions - 18 kg and a massive cast (!) chassis, which is why it was called "Tank"...
According to legend, this copy was used as a broadcasting radio receiver in the legendary "Orient Express" London - Istanbul in the early 30s. Can this be true? I do not claim, but I assume. In particular, about 10 years ago I came across such information on one of the English sites, which unfortunately no longer exists. Does it exist, but I cannot find it? If anyone has such information, I will be very grateful if you share it with me.
PS. The receiver is used not with the native speaker system, but with a broadcasting column of the German company Loewe model E.B. 71, manufactured in 1925.

Hallicrafters started making AA5 and AA6 versions, i think in the late 1940 to early, for example, the SX38 in tis various revisions. I don't know if they were cheapening their brand by doing so. I think that they were just bringing shortwave to a new generation, especially the GIs that came home from around the world and the HAMs that may have bought this set as their first comms set (assuming that they did not try to buy and mod war surplus equipment. I think that they were much less expensive than a Zenith TO

Hi MrFixr55. I think that Helicrafters were simply trying to fill the niche of inexpensive but high-quality shortwave radios and they succeeded.

Hello everyone. I continue to demonstrate the exhibits of my collection.
A rather rare radio receiver model 942a from Philips Corporation, manufactured by the Danish branch of Philips Radio A/S; København in Copenhagen in 1932. It is one of the first models of a radio receiver in Europe with a speaker placed in one housing with a chassis and trimmed with expensive veneers.
Structurally, it is a simple three-tube regenerator for receiving local radio stations in two ranges, - Long and Medium Waves. Primitive, but for a cramped Europe with its small countries in area this was enough.

Hello everyone. Again about the exhibits of my collection ..
An interesting three-tube radio receiver of the regenerator type of the Swedish company SRA Radiola model 342LV 1934. A feature of this model is a universal transformerless power supply for operation in AC and DC electrical networks. But even more interesting is the second feature - the use of English 7-pin metal Catkin radio tubes with an external anode! A very interesting design. Due to their high manufacturing cost in household appliances, they were used only for a few years, and then they were replaced by ordinary glass cylinders. But they were used in military radio equipment for a very long time.
As for the design, it is strictly classic for a Swedish product of the 30s, simple rectangular shapes and veneer of expensive wood species in the decoration, in this case - Karelian birch veneer. And this is in a budget radio receiver...
