Welcome to the Phorum,

Need more info which tubes plates are glowing? Have you gone through the set replacing the paper caps, and Electrolitic Caps, and any out of value resistors?

as far as i know nothings been done to it [maybe a tube change in the past] it was playing when i found it [heard it myself] tube numbers are right and in right sockets its the 5Y3 that glows

If nothing has been done to it, you need to at a mininum replace the electrolitic capacators.
Schematic here:
http://www.nostalgiaair.org/Resources/586/M0013586.htm

The 5Y3 is the rectifier and if the caps are shorted or bad they can cause the 5Y3 to destroy itself, and more importantly take out the power transformer.

Don't plug it in again until you have replaced the electrolitic caps. It looks like there are 3 in this set C49 a 20uf, and there are two others a 10uf and a 25uf. The caps can be replaced with 450v types at as close to the original value as you can get. Observe the + and - on the caps and make sure they are installed correctly.

Agree, and make sure the old electrolytics are no longer connected.

Post a picture of the bottom of the chassis. The other wax capacitors are most certainly in need of replacement; can't always tell by looking at them, but sometimes there's absolutely no doubt.

I think I have a extra d-10 changer. If you are interested I will look for it and let you know. It will be the one that uses the crystal pickup not the magnetic pickup
