Hi all, I’ve seen notes on service info concerning the 70 that there’s a difference between serial# B22,000 or above or below. I’m just starting on my 70 and the only number I see stamped on the rear apron of the chassis is 556792, no B in front of it so what exactly do I have? Thanks.

If it has a dual gang volume control it's the early model.

So in testing the tubes and general cleanup of my 70, I have discovered a little history behind my radio. I’ve seen 4 or 5 station call letters printed in pencil on the dial scale. Turns out they were all Detroit area stations. Then I find this sticker on one-off my 24 tubes. It’s from some shop in Detroit also. There’s what I presume is the set owners name printed on the back arch support! I wonder about how it made its way to me from Detroit to the Kutztown swap meet 4-1/2 years ago?
On another topic. What are you guys using for grille cloth? Looks like Richmond Designs is gone and I only find generic cloth on eBay! Thanks.

Maybe:
https://richmonddesignsinc.com/grille_cl...nd_24_x_24
But there isn't a good replacement for the 70/90 grille cloth.

Ah there it is. Thanks guys. I don’t know why I couldn’t find Richmond designs. When I googled it and clicked, it came up 404! I’m a ways off yet from needing the grille cloth but will contact Richmond! Now onto cleaning up my dirty and slightly rusted chassis and electronic resto!

Hi All, putting the dial back on my 70 and when the tuning gang is completely meshed, I can set the dial to read 55 but when I fully open it, I’m about a half inch beyond the 150 or high end of the dial. Can’t find anything in the Philco Library or Nostalgia Air as far as setting the dial before doing an alignment. Anyone have that info or should I just set my dial to split the difference between the low and high end of the dial. In other words, set it about a 1/4” below the 55 and that will give me a 1/4” above the 150 on the high end! Thanks.

both of my 70's and my 71 are set the same way. Just barely below 55 but way beyond 1500.
