Yes this is where it goes, behing the rod antenna; I think this is what that fish paper at the back of the antenna is for.
Ed answered my question about it yesterday.
And as you noticed, there is a little shelf there, so the battery goes under and the flat red cable goes on top for storage (or maybe vs versa).
