Service Info

Philco Service Info

Philco published excellent service info for most models as numbered service bulletins. These typically include a schematic, under-chassis diagram labeling each part as well as a parts list.

Philco also aggregated service info into year books’ which contained service info for all models of a given year.

Useful service tips about specific models and solutions to common problems were published in the Philco Serviceman newsletter.

The book Radio Field Service Data by Alfred A. Ghirardi is also a good source of historical common symptoms and solutions by model.

Philco Service Index

Dale H. Cook created the below cross-reference spreadsheet for locating all of the information for your radio across these many sources! Just find your model in the left column and then the page number for each source is shown in the columns to the right.

If there are multiple sources available start with Service Bulletins. Be sure to also check Early Philco Schematics for Ron Ramirez’s corrected/labeled schematic for many early models.

Philco Production Changes

Keep in mind that it was not uncommon for Philco to publish multiple revisions of a service bulletin (e.g. 165, 165B). The later revisions can be corrections or updates to reflect production changes or later designs using the same model number. Other times Philco only documented production changes in the following bulletins:
