1946-08 – Bing Crosby and his 46-1201

Description: This is a picture of Bing Crosby, circa August 1946, in his dressing room at Paramount Pictures, where he was filming the movie “The Emperor Waltz” (which wasn’t released until 1948!) He’s got some Decca label 78 rpm records in his lap, and appears to be listening to them on his Philco 1201. By this time, Bing had already begun recording his new weekly Philco-sponsored radio series, Philco Radio Time, which made its debut on October 16, 1946 over the ABC network. It was the first pre-recorded network variety show. PRT aired through the Spring of 1949.
