Early this year, we watched the 1959 movie A Summer Place for the first time. In one particular scene of the movie, I noticed a vase filled with daffodils inside a very Mid Century Modern beach house. I thought the flowers added something special to the room.
So, once the daffodils began to bloom in our area, Debbie picked a half dozen or so of ours, placed them in a vase, and gave them to me for display on the desk in my home office.
Even though it meant barring the cats from my home office for a week, the daffodils brightened things up in here where I usually type these blog posts.
The daffodil blooms signify the oncoming of spring. Spring is a time of renewal, when everything seems to come back to life after a long, cold, winter. The grass begins to grow and, eventually, the trees begin to sprout leaves again (although most trees in my area have yet to do so).
It is my hope to be able to refinish some radio cabinets this spring and summer, as well as finish up my DIY wiring project which is not quite complete.
As you start to enjoy the warmer weather, why not stop and appreciate the flowers, the dogwood and cherry blossoms, the leaves returning to the trees, and all the beauty that nature has to offer – and be thankful for these.
Side note: That beach house where the scenes from A Summer Place was filmed is in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1948, completed in 1951, and still stands today. Visit this site for more information.
